Are robotics teams in snowy regions at a disadvantage during build season?

The reason that I asked this is because when school is closed due to bad weather, we are not able to work on our robot. Our build site is at the school and when school is closed, everything is closed. Last year we had several days where school was closed due to snow and ice, and it was looking like it might be the same this year, however it hasn't been much of a factor yet. Even taking away a few days of build time is a big deal when time is short to begin with.
In the past I've seen videos of teams outside in the sun and working in shorts and I've often thought that they have a slight advantage to teams that have to trudge though deep snow just to get to their build site.
Tonight in Grand Rapids Michigan, it looks like a little more snow, but I don't think it will be enough to cause problems for tomorrow. Tomorrow we will be meeting again to discuss our Chairman's Award submission and begin working on all the other things I mentioned last night.
